TRADITIONAL

This section relates painting and drawing techniques mostly done between 1991 and 1997.

The Ink section shows the use of traditional ink tools, such as ink pencils and markers on paper.
These drawings mostly come from a couple of drawing books on which I used to sketch dreams and whatever I wanted to draw, or to write thoughts and notes during the past years, expecially when I was a graphic design student in Urbino (Italy).

The Pastels section relates to some anatomy exercises I used to draw in order to enhance my skills in sketching male and female figure without any reference. These drawings are made using one or two watercolor pastels. Once I shaped the figure I used a wet brush on pastel lines for shading. I love this technique!

The Acrylics section consists of nine illustrations I painted using acrylics on paper. These illustrations represent my personal tribute to the world of horror and fantastic movies.

The Mixed Techniques 1 section consists of my 1992 degree thesis at ISIA - Urbino (Italy). Basically, every single artwork was made of a plastic support plate with a paper surface on; images were marked by scrubbing a trichloroethylene soaked cotton wad from the backside of some photocopies.
In other words, it’s a technique similar to what you could achieve today by using Photoshop layer blending method, without poisoning yourself with trichloroethylene vapors! I then colored the backgrounds using different techniques and I glued several objects as foreground. Finally, I took pictures of the works for the final presentation.

The Mixed Techniques 2 section, except for a couple of pencil and gouache illustrations, consists of ink drawings I photocopied both on white and coloured paper, and ricombined in order to get an interesting, sharp color contrast.
